Sheesh Mahal Lahore History

During 1631-32, the emperor of the Mughal Empire was built in the time of Shah Jahan, Sheesh Mahal - Sheesh Mahal, which is located in the Shah Burj Kharghar of the northwest corner of Lahore Fort. The ornate white marble pavilion works well with patra duo and complex mirrors.

This Mughal emperor, respectively, is a memorial from 21 monuments built in Lahore Fort and hence this palace has become the "jewel of the fort of the fort". Being part of the premises of the Lahore Fort, it was included in UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

The great Emperor Akbar at Fort solid foundation mogul Sun was laying the foundations as mud fort in 1566. After the completion of the construction of Fatehpur Sikri, they called experienced craftsmen to build a new fort.

Later, Shah Jahan made variable in this fortress as a Anandi location and included Naulakha Pavilion, Diwan-e-Khas, Moti Masjid, chambers of sleep and Sheesh Mahal being one of them. Shish Mahal is located in the Shah Bourge (Raja's Pavilion) division, which was built by its predecessor Jahangir.

The work of expansion of the private residence by Shah Jahan continued between 1628 and 1634. The distinctive Shahjahani architecture shows the wider use of white marble.

During the Sikh Empire, Shah Burj was the favorite place of Ranjit Singh. He made an ending pyre over Sheesh Mahal. At this place, he used to represent his captured occupation, ie Kohinoor.

In 1904-05, the roof of its veranda was separated by breaking, which led to internal debris of debris. At that time in 1927, the Department of Archeology of the British Government had started the repair work. During 1960, some of its repairs were carried out.

The Archaeological Department of Pakistan had included Sheesh Mahal in the list of protected monuments under the Antiquities Act. In 1981 it was included as a campus of Lahore Fort, it was included in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Until 2006 its roof problem was not widely resolved and later it was restored.
