Gupteeshwar cave is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a pilgrimage site located 55 km from the state of Jaipur, Koraput district of Odisha state of India. It is said that its main attraction is the huge Shiva Ling, whose size increases in day-to-day.
Gupteswar Temple History
Pilgrims from all over the country come here during the month of Shravan, because on this place every year a visit to Bhole is organized. During pilgrimage journey of Bhole, Mahadev takes a bath in the pool and then Shiva looks after Ling.
Surrounded by a dense forest of year-old tree and lying in the cave surrounded by the Kolab river, a lingam stands 2 meters high. The temple is called "Gupteeshwara".
Story of Gupteeshwar Temple
There are many stories related to this place. The most interesting and famous story is that in 1665, King of Jaipur found Lingam. Since then people have worshiped it. Other caves can be found separately from Gupteeshwar's main cave.
According to legends, Lord Rama was walking around in the woods with his wife Sita and Bhai Lakshman, then he first saw Lingam and later worshiped him as "Gupteeshwar". The poet Kalidas described the beautiful beauty of Ramgiri district in his famous "Meghadutam" where the cave temple has been referred to.
Later, in the last part of the 19th century, a hunter in the Ramgiri area got penis Since then people of Koraput region have worshiped Lingam. In the Shivratri (a Hindu festival), Gupteeshwar temple is crowded with more than lakhs of devotees from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

How to reach Gupteeshwar Temple
The train and bus can be reached both in place.
From Railway: Koraput railway station is the nearest railway station. And through the Bodenagaram one can reach Koraput. It is about 70 km away from the sacred cave.
The national highway touches both Koraput and Jaipur, so it is not difficult to reach Gupteeshwar's place. A marketing space can be reached by bus via Bai Pariiguda. Baptiguda is just 30 km from Gupteeshwar.
Berhampur is 400 km away, Bhubaneswar 590 km, Koraput 75 km and Jaipur 45 km away from Gupteeshwar.
