Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday is celebrated every year in India by the name of Gandhi Jayanti or Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. It falls on 2 October every year, and there is gazetted holiday all over India. On October 2, the great person Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar in Gujarat in the year 1869 in Karamchand Gandhi and Putlibai. Mahatma Gandhi is known as Bapu in India due to his incredible contributions and struggle for the independence of the Indians. All government offices, banks, schools, colleges, post offices and etc. are closed on 2nd October. To celebrate this day, some businesses and organizations open for a few hours.

In India, Gandhi Jayanti Prayer Sabhas and Rajghat are celebrated in New Delhi as a national holiday by paying homage to the Gandhi Statue. Gandhi Jayanti will fall on Friday, October 2, 2015. Prayer is organized on the tomb of Mahatma Gandhi (in the presence of President and Prime Minister of India), where his funeral was done. His favorite and devotional song (Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram) is sung in his memory.

About Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi's full name is Mohan Das Kamchand Gandhi, born on 2 October 1869. He is generally known as National Father or Bapu. He died on January 30, 1948. He spent his entire life struggling as a political and spiritual leader. His main role in Indian independence by the people of India is unforgettable, this is why people are remembered by their festivals and celebrations by the anniversary of their birthday. Bapu had developed his own techniques of non-violent opposition to India's independence. He gave his non-violent (non-violence) protest to Satyagraha, the moral rule.
In those days, he became famous for his non-violent social defiance throughout India and South Africa. In 1922, with his non-cooperation movement, he started the salt Satyagraha or salt (Dandi) March 12, 1930. Bapu started to encourage Indian people to make their own indigenous cotton cloth using conventional spinning wheels and the curves of India. Traditional hand spinning wheels from that time and Karagh became the symbol of Bapu's Indian independence struggle and life.
