Introduction HTML 5
HTML 5 is the fifth major revision of this code language for developing a website. Similar to its immediate predecessors, such as HTML 4 and XHTML, HTML 5 is a standard for not only structuring but also presenting content on a Web page. This new version of HTML attempts at solving the issues that were found in the previous versions of HTML. For example, HTML 5 helps in improving interoperability and reducing the development cost by making rules on how to handle HTML elements and also how to recover from errors.
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) started working on the new HTML 5 specification in 2007. The first Public Working Draft of the HTML 5 specification was published by this group on January 22, 2008. Till date, this specification is an ongoing work, although some parts of HTML 5 are implemented in browsers before the final Recommendation status is published. Since HTML 5 is still under the development stage, not all major Web browsers provide support to its new features and elements.
HTML 5 offers a variety of new features to the HTML specification. With the help of new features, HTML 5 enables you to create more interactive websites by embedding audio, video, and graphics on the Web page. This following new features are introduced in HTML 5:
