Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, who came to be known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was India's largest visionary and prestigious businessman. He was the founder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which is now involved in the company of the world's top 500 companies. Dhirubhai's rags-to-riches story is one of the most amazing stories of corporate India and inspiration for the youth of our country.

Dhirubhai was born on December 28, 1932, in a divisional family of Gujarat in Chard village of Junagadh district. Father Hirachand Govardhanas Ambani was a school teacher and mother Zamanben was a domestic producer. Dhirubhai has four siblings, Trilochanben, Ramnik Bhai, Jasuben and Nathubhai. Dhirubhai had very little interest in formal education.

In 1965, Chandkalal Damani and Dhirubhai Ambani ended their partnership and Dhirubhai started on his own. They have both different temperament and different views about the operation of the business.
